EUDR and cocoa: what your European buyer will ask of you

The EUDR (Regulation (EU) 2023/1115) applies from 30 December 2026 to large and medium operators and from 30 June 2027 to micro and small ones. If you produce, collect or export cocoa and sell to a European importer, you do not sign the declaration, but your buyer cannot sign it without your data. Download the guide with what they will ask of you, batch by batch.

Topics covered include:

  • Who answers for what in the chain: farm, cooperative, exporter, importer and downstream operator
  • The data for each batch and how plots are geolocated (a point up to 4 ha, a polygon above)
  • What counts as "deforestation-free" and "legal": the 31 Dec 2020 cut-off date
  • From batch to plot: why mass balance is not allowed and what happens if a plot fails
  • Country risk, the 2026-2027 timeline and how to start with Retexcycle Origins
